“What’s
your name?” Sam asked Jane quietly. “I don’t know… Bret called me Janie. I
think that’s my name.” Sam finally looked at the girl. Jane stared back. Sam
had blond hair pulled back into bun. Her eyes were brown and her skin was covered
with dirt. When Jane thought about it Bret was covered with dirt too. “So you
don’t know who you are?” “I woke up to Bret standing over me trying to wake me
up. While someone kept saying that it wasn’t going to work because I’ve been in
a comma for two years...” Jane sniffled and wiped more tears away. “Oh my gosh…
I can’t even think what that feels like. And waking to this new world we live
in.”
